Just a little more than a four hour drive from Boston, finds you in the midcoast region of Maine at our bed and breakfast, Pentagöet Inn and Wine Bar. This part of Maine is also known as Down East, derived from an old sailing term that referred to it being downwind from Western ports of the Atlantic Coast. In fact, Castine is one of the original towns of New England, founded in 1613! Our quaint town, nestled on Penobscot Bay, is the perfect location for so many Maine activities. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are about 30 miles away. Camden is about 60 miles. Many other small Maine towns are close by to discover and enjoy.

Our whimsical bed and breakfast was built in 1894 as Castine's original "Summer Hotel," which brought the first tourists who came by steamship ferry from Boston and Washington, D.C., to enjoy Maine vacations. Today, we feature 11 rooms in the original building and 5 additional rooms in the adjacent, 18th century, Perkins House. Each room is individually decorated in a handsome New England style and a variety of beds including king, queen, double, and two twins for up to a maximum occupancy of 34 people. We offer pet friendly rooms as well in the Perkins House!.
