Property Overview

The Dorset Inn on the Green is Vermont's oldest continually operating inn (c.1796). It is nestled on the green in the quintessential New England village of Dorset. This inn has been welcoming visitors for over 223 years and is the foundation of activity in the village. This charming country inn offers gracious accommodations in twenty-four individually appointed guest rooms and suites for lodging. Rich in tradition yet still offers modern amenities such as air conditioning, cable television and wireless internet. Sip wine by fireside, soak in a whirlpool bath, relax in a plush king bed, and awake to the aroma of breakfast. The historic red dining room and cozy tavern are the setting for outstanding New England fare offering many local Vermont products. Dinner is accompanied by our award winning wine list. Centrally situated to Southern Vermont cultural attractions such as Hildene, Southern Vermont Arts Center and Dorset & Weston Playhouses. Recreational activities abound, just minutes to Manchester's designer outlets, boutiques and galleries. We look forward to hosting your romantic getaways and vacations here.

Dining

Dinner at The Dorset Inn…always a treat!  The warm and welcoming ambiance of the historic red dining room and cozy New England tavern allows guests to relax and enjoy the food, the wine and the friendly hospitality. As a member of Vermont Fresh Network, we support as many local farms and businesses as possible. Our cuisine is an uncomplicated, bistro-style that demonstrates classic culinary techniques and traditions with regional influences and reflects the freshest ingredients available, changing with the seasons.

Rooms

Number of Rooms: 24 Six of our guest rooms are two room luxury suites each with individualized appointments. They are elegant yet comfortable. Think of handsome wallpapers…worn wood flooring… handmade solid wood furniture…rich Oriental rugs. The large sitting rooms are adorned with gas fireplaces, comfy sofas and chairs for lounging and flat screen televisions. The large bathrooms feature heated marble floors, whirlpool tubs for two and tiled walk-in showers (some with steam showers), Dorset Inn bathrobes and English toiletries. Oversized king beds with plush custom bedding anchor the bedroom and there is an additional flat screen television and ample storage.
