Hors d'oeuvres: Cliff House Maine

Are you dreaming of an intimate and in-depth culinary education? Choose the captivating Cliff House Maine, there’s plenty of foodie goodness to choose from. Obviously you can’t miss the Maine lobster rolls, and the on-site seasonal lobster shack serves them up right and proper alongside local craft beers and great views of the water. After this, though, you can book an intimate culinary presentation in the Weare Cottage, where you and nine other foodies (bound to become your Maine travel buddies after this experience) will enjoy an in-depth culinary presentation and seafood tasting. Learn the art of raw seafood, cold and hot cooking techniques, shell presentations and more, before digging in. It’s all served alongside a selection of carefully paired wines.

Appetizer: Brass Lantern Inn

There simply isn’t a bad time for East Coast foodies to visit Nantucket Island! This tiny Massachusetts destination is bursting at the seams with fun foodie experiences. There are more than 100 restaurants, so you’ll have to keep returning to try them all, and then, on top of that, there’s the annual Nantucket Food and Wine Festival. For more than two decades, it’s attracted world-class culinary talent and winemakers, and it’s simply a must for anyone in the area who calls themself a foodie.

Another must on the island? Cisco Brewers, a brewery, distillery and winery, so everyone in your crew can enjoy the plentiful libations.

Looking for a spot to stay? Brass Lantern Inn, with its central, historic location, is close to it all.

Salad: Madison Beach Hotel

Saddle up to the Chef’s Table at Madison Beach Hotel in Connecticut for one of the monthly culinary experiences featuring the esteemed property chef or a visiting, local chef. Learn and feast in an intimate and upscale dining environment. Each dinner includes an educational component, so you can walk away from the table not only satisfied but also a little smarter.

If you are traveling to the East Coast in March, channel the luck of the Irish, with a Chef’s Table theme inspired by St. Patrick’s Day. In April, call upon your inner pastry chef with a cookie decorating session. The May Chef’s Table is all about the guac, perfect for a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Can’t make it to Madison in time for one of the Chef’s Table events? You can arrange other culinary experiences with the hotel any time you’re in town, including brewery tours and maple syrup workshops.

Main Course: Inn by the Sea

Don’t even worry about putting together a foodie-inspired itinerary when you stay at Inn by the Sea in Maine. The property already has all of the fine details worked out, so you just show up and have a great time.

There are three unique culinary packages to choose from. In the first, you can indulge in a two-night stay with a local brewery tour and snacks along the way (plus transportation, so there are no worries about safety). The second is a walking, guided tasting tour of Portland, aka America’s Foodiest City. Last, you can venture out onto Casco Bay on an authentic lobster boat, where you’ll be put to work pulling traps before eating your catch.

Dessert: Topside Inn

At Topside Inn, also in Maine, you can always find something delicious to sink your teeth into, but one of the highlights of any stay at this charming property is the breakfast. The most important meal of the day is an event, not just a hurried meal. Your leisurely breakfast is filled with the incredible flavors offered up by local farmers and fishermen, and could include items like sour cream waffles with cherry-bourbon sauce or organic grits with Maine lobster (don’t forget a side of sausage — they cure and smoke their own pork and salmon on site). Want to take the flavors of Topside Inn home with you? The property is in the process of putting together its very own cookbook
