The Geoffrey Cornish-designed course is an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Golf Course and incorporates natural wildlife and features into its unique design. The result is a beautiful lakeside retreat with inspiring golf from Hole 1 through the 18th cup. 

A stay at Basin Harbor is the quintessential summer golf getaway. The resort is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. Guests can relax on the 700-acre estate that used to be a working farm and kick back at the main lodge, the gardens, the marina or tour the nearby Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Lake Morey in the beautiful Green Mountains has been home to the noted Vermont Open for more than 50 years. The 18-hole course is a par-70 with a variety of grueling sand traps, water hazards and well-guarded greens. With large trees, sweeping fairways and supple greens, the course has a mature, finished design that plays consistently though all conditions. The course plays flatter on the front nine holes but picks up after the turn with a more rolling back nine holes. 

This golf destination is perfect for golfers who want to play the same holes that the pros play. The resort is less than three hours’ drive from Boston and Hartford, so it’s a great weekend golf getaway. When you’re not on the course, there’s plenty of swimming, hiking, canoeing, paddle boarding, water skiing, tennis, volleyball and more. The mountain lake has the longest skating trail in the U.S. and there are even smaller rinks for skating and pick-up hockey.

The Essex

The Links at Lang Farm is one of the newer courses in Vermont, but the accolades have been rolling in since the course opened in the early 21st Century. In its short history, the course has been recognized a one of the Top 25 par-3 courses in New England by New England Golf Monthly and voted as the reader’s favorite new golf course by Northeast Golf Magazine. 

The 4,000-yard course winds through pumpkin patches, wetlands, white pine trees and other obstacles – making it one of the most unique courses in Vermont. The Links is known for its excellent play, gentle greens and challenging bunkers. The course has three sets of tees and is popular with both beginners and seasoned pros. It plays quickly, and you can squeeze in 18 holes in under three and a half hours on average. Off the course, players can hone their skills at the 20-station practice facility that has a driving range, practice bunker, two putting and chipping greens. 

The Essex is only minutes away from the Links at Lang Farm and has 120 guest rooms and suites that have distinctive character and an inviting charm that you won’t find at most standard lodging in Burlington. Guests can choose from traditional rooms, spa suites, premier suites and fireplace mini-suites available.
